Here’s an update from an alumni magazine on Belva, since some of you asked last time we met.

Ken

Belva Borgquist Finlay and Russ Edgerton recently returned from a trip to Ghana with Habitat for Humanity. It was the first trip back for Belva, who spent two years in Ghana in 1962-63 as a Peace Corps volunteer teaching secondary school. Belva and Russ have been married 24 years and each has two children from a previous marriage. Five grandchildren live in close proximity in the Washington, D.C., area, to the delight of their grandparents, and the other four grandchildren live in Oregon. Belva retired from a career in organizational writing (her last employer was the Children's Defense Fund), while Russ's most recent passion was reforming higher education.

Hey Bob,

These videos are such fun.... didn't realize you were taping the dancing of Saturday eve!   Love the "eternal teens" description from the Doc Rock-it band!

It was a very special weekend with all your organizing and planning.... I know it took tons of time on your part and the committee's.  We appreciate every minute!

It truly turned out as one of our best reunions!

I will send some still photo shots for you.

Thanks again for a memorable weekend and to your wife for your absence during all the meetings!

Best,

    Ann Christian Kalar

Hello Bob,

Thanks so much for the file of the reunion. I printed a copy and have enjoyed reading it. I know my memory isn't what it used to be, but I was surprised at how many names I simply didn't recognize. You and the Reunion Committee have done a wonderful job compiling the info about our fellow students.

I did notice that my e-mail address needs an update. It is: azdiane26az@yahoo.com, otherwise the info I recently sent you is current.

Another thing that caught my eye was how many Praetorians have stayed in CA. After 42 years in Fullerton we decided to sell our residence in May 2006 and the following 3 years we traveled in our Airstream trailer. We put our household furnishings in storage and didn't look back. We stayed in Chula Vista at the Marina during the winter months and explored the western US the rest of the time. Our first summer was spent in Flagstaff and it was just what we wanted - rural, hiking, and a day's drive from our kids. We thought of settling there but decided the winters would be a bit too cold. It wasn't until Oct 2008 when we were traveling from Flagstaff to Chula Vista that we discovered Prescott. Made reservations at the RV place for a week and stayed 2 months. During that time we found our home and it took over 7 mos. to work with the bank. It truly was an event meant to happen and we are very happy to be living here. It's rural, there's hiking, high desert, and pine covered mountains within 20 minutes of our place. Also discovered many ex-Californians here.

I appreciate your help in keeping me in the loop.

Diane

Ladies and Gentlemen...

Compared to other classes....there is no comparison!   At the 50th I expected to see a dance floor full of walkers and breathing machines.   No such thing.  I don't know what they were putting in the school lunches, but it worked!!

One more time let us celebrate our pals who have left and the ones still here.  The townhouse is still here???

Later...Hal

While, I will not be with you at the historic 55th year celebration, I will be enriched with the fond memories of our growing years at Westchester HS. I look forward to continued contact with the Praetorians. Thank you, loyal WHS alumni reunion planners for your time, energy and creativity.

I have been trying to get my life in order to attend the reunion, but it just does not look like I can make it. Mike Reilly and I have been talking on the e mail for years now, and this is going to be the best way for me to see him again. Of course we have had over 50 years to work something out. Duh. If I can bust loose to crash the dinner, I will. (I will bring cash to buy my way in.) (Cash always works.)

You now have my correct e mail address. I do not do face book, nor any other social sites. I do have a web site for the promotion and celebration of the art that my wife and I create. www.limagegalerie.com

For anybody that wants to know of my present place in the world, it is:  When I attended the last reunion I was closing the chapter of my 47 years with my wife Betty and was tired and pretty beat up from the battle. Betty did not fare so well and has received her reward for a life well spent. So, after loosing my life partner, I was adrift without that special influence that stabilizes and enervates the male being. I looked to eharmony for solace and for a new life companion. That site just hooked me up with ladies that were harmonious. I needed someone who was a challenge and would make me think in new ways and expose me to new vistas. I went to Match.com and met my lady. We were married 1-1-11 in Las Vegas. There is hope for us all!  A hot blond, the same age as I am, that is an artist and French.  We paint every day and visit as many wineries as the law allows. We are going to move every two years so that the roots do not grow too deep and the foliage shade us from the sun.  Please visit us on our web site and we will keep in touch with you all. Celebrate well and "derriere la cravate."

Looking forward to getting reacquainted with classmates.  I did attend the 10th, so it has been 45 years without contact.

Hey everyone:  This sounds like so much fun -- a smaller, more personal event.  We're even thinking about visiting the "Townhouse." (Yep, it is still there . . . pretty amazing.)
